Best Jigsaw

You may have noticed that here at Power Tools Planet we are focusing more on the less known power tools. We do it because almost everyone own a drill or a jigsaw, but there are actually a whole load of enthusiast do it yourselfers who do not even realize just how much easier their jobs could be, if only they used the correct tools. On the other hand, though, a jigsaw is indeed an incredibly useful tool and some of our readers have complained that they find it very difficult to find quite the right jigsaw for their needs. Indeed, as we started to look into the matter we realized that we could almost create 10 different categories of jigsaws and every one of them would deserve its own top 3 choices. Still that would have created too much reading material for someone who just needs to make an informed decision. So we came up with the following list of the top 10 best jigsaws on the market and created a short review for each one, highlighting its best features and why you might be interested in buying it. So, now more than ever, make sure to scroll down past the list to find those reviews.

We are going to start our search for the best jigsaw with what is the best choice for an enthusiast beginner; someone who may not be sure about exactly what they need and who does not want to spend a fortune if it is not needed. The Black & Decker JS660 Jig Saw is the perfect answer for a beginner because it has a Smart Select technology where you just use a dial to select what type of cuts and what type of material you are going to make those cuts in, and the jigsaw selects the appropriate speed it requires and adjusts that speed as you go. It uses one of the more powerful 5 Amps motors you are going to see on these types of jigsaws, so you are not going to be in danger of not being able to easily go through any type of material. Still, despite that powerful motor, this is one of the more affordable jigsaws on the market, and since it is a Black & Decker product, you can be sure that it will work for many years to come.

2. Bosch JS470E 7.0-Amp Top-Handle Jigsaw

Now that we have already talked about the ideal beginner’s jigsaw, we can move on to the big boy toys’ department, and the Bosch JS470E 7.0-Amp Top-Handle Jigsaw. It uses a massive 7 Amp motor and 4 orbital action settings. The orbital jigsaw uses a power delivery system that can handle very aggressive, challenging cuts, which is why it was also paired with such a powerful motor. There is also the fact that this is a Bosch jigsaw, therefore an even more reliable tool than the Black & Decker. However, we must not forget that this is a much more expensive tool so, unless you have no financial limitations or you know exactly what this type of tool is for and are sure you need that high performance level, we would suggest to stick with some of the cheaper alternatives are have and are going to feature here.

3. DeWalt Bare-Tool DC330B 18-Volt Cordless Jigsaw

Another reason why you may need to spend a lot more money than most people do on a jigsaw is if you need a cordless system. Since most people use a jigsaw on a workbench there is usually a power plug nearby so there really is no need to spend all that extra cash. However, if you do need a cordless jigsaw, the DeWalt Bare-Tool DC330B 18-Volt is your best bet. It has a very powerful 18 Volt battery and all that battery translates in a long job capacity as well as brute power if you need to cut through some tougher material. With the DeWalt you get a keyless blade change system which, although usually available on all our choices in this list, it is particularly useful when using a cordless since that means you may be quite far from your work bench.

4. Porter-Cable PC600JS 6 Amp Orbital Jig Saw

We have already talked about the most powerful jigsaw on the market today, and the biggest fault we could find with it is the very high price point it comes with. So in an attempt to give you a more wallet friendly alternative, we have found the Porter-Cable PC600JS 6 Amp Orbital Jig Saw. Porter-Cable may not be as a reputable company as Bosh or DeWalt, but they are in top and they do come out with relatively good and sturdy products. The Porter-Cable PC600JS 6 Amp Orbital Jig Saw actually impressed us with how easily it went through even the toughest materials, and we could tell immediately by its weight and quality of design, that this is a machine made to endure.

5. Black & Decker BDEJS300C Jig Saw

Finally, as our last choice for our top 5 best jigsaws on the market, we can talk about the best choice for those of you working on a tight budget. The Black & Decker BDEJS300C Jig Saw uses a 4.5 amp motor, so the drop in power is only minimal, but everything else in terms of quality of manufacture and reliability stays as high as you would expect. You still get to choose the cutting speed and you still get a tilting base plate so you can cut at different angles with ease. The only thing is that you lose a lot of the smart features we have talked about before and there is also the slight drop in power to consider from 5 to 4.5 Amps.

6. Bosch JS470EB 7-Amp Barrel-Grip Jigsaw

As we move on to the second part of our list we can start focusing on more nuanced differences between the different jigsaws on the market that you get to choose from. The Bosch JS470EB 7-Amp Barrel-Grip Jigsaw has the same 7 Amp motor, but the design of the entire jigsaw is different. It is a lower, thinner profile that allows you to cut faster through materials of low or medium strength. This is the speedsters among jigsaws, so make sure to pay the extra only if you have the dexterity required to make use of this special form.

7. Makita 4329K 3.9 Amp Variable-Speed Top-Handle Jig Saw

Although we firmly believe that for most jobs and people Bosch, Black & Decker and DeWalt are as good manufacturers as you could hope to find, we are aware of the fact that some people will always love the promise of quality from Makita. So if you must have one, we would recommend the Makita 4329K 3.9 Amp Variable-Speed Top-Handle Jig Saw, because, even though it has a relatively weak motor at 3.9 Amps, it is still quite a powerful tool and a very reliable one too.

8. Black & Decker BDEJS600C 5.0-Amp Jig Saw

For those of you that need to make cuts that turn and twist more than a Chubby Checker concert, there is the Black & Decker BDEJS600C 5.0-Amp Jig Saw. It has a settings dial to adjust the saw’s orbit to 1 of 4 positions that make it one of the most nibble tools on our list. The Bosch JS470EB 7-Amp Barrel-Grip Jigsaw is somewhat more nibble, but it is also a lot more expensive. The blade can be changed without the need for any other tool, and the entire thing goes very fast through almost any material.

9. Black & Decker JS670V LineFinder Orbital Jig Saw

The bigger, slightly more expensive brother of the Black & Decker we have started this list with, is the Black & Decker JS670V LineFinder Orbital Jig Saw. It has the same Smart Select technology where you can just tell the jigsaw what types of cuts you are planning to make and it will adjust its own settings. The biggest difference here is the Line Finder system that allows you to easily follow the guide line. It is actually a more useful feature than you could imagine because the finer saw dust does not always get sucked up through the suction system, and the extra light really helps you keep the cutting line straight. Finally, there is the fact that the Black & Decker JS670V LineFinder Orbital Jig Saw has its own blade storage system which can be quite useful given how easily people tend to lose those blades.

10. DeWalt DW317K 5.5 Amp Top Handle Jig Saw Kit

The DW317K 5.5 Amp Top Handle Jig Saw Kit is our final attempt to find the best jigsaw on the market for different people and different jobs. The thing that sets this jigsaw apart from everything else on the market are the qualities that really set DeWalt apart from everyone else: it is quite affordable and yet it has a powerful 5.5 Amps motor, an orbital delivery system with 4 positions, keyless blade change system and a hard metal casing promising that the DW317K 5.5 Amp Top Handle Jig Saw Kit can withstand even the most demanding jobs.
